Laguna Grande is one of the few places in the world where we can appreciate the natural phenomenon of bioluminescence throughout the year, but only under ideal conditions! This tour gets you close to the lagoon without having to kayak your way there, since we ride a trolley with one of our interpreters and walk to a boardwalk just above the water. Depending on the moon phase and concentration of the bioluminescent organisms, you might be able to witness this phenomenon. We also visit the Fajardo Lighthouse to contemplate light pollution from the surroundings and learn how it affects bioluminescence and wildlife. PLEASE NOTE: Because the intensity of bioluminescence is not 100% predictable and depends on multiple variables, we cannot guarantee its visibility.
