Hacienda La Esperanza, Manatí

Learn about the History of Hacienda La Esperanza

Relive the history of those who worked at Hacienda La Esperanza, one of the most productive sugar estates of the 19th century. On a guided tour, you will contemplate the landscape dominated by the ruins of the old site where sugarcane was processed, and you will appreciate various work tools such as machetes and a steam-powered mill. Discover who these workers were, their experiences, and how their stories connect to our present.

Important Notice:
Due to a technical malfunction, the steam-powered sugar mill (trapiche) at Hacienda La Esperanza, will not be operational during the tour. Although it will not be seen in motion, our interpretive staff will provide a comprehensive explanation of its history, function, and significance within the context of the Hacienda. We are working diligently to restore this historic piece. Thank you for your understanding.
