Hacienda La Esperanza, Manatí

History and Nature of Hacienda La Esperanza

Join us as we explore the history of Hacienda La Esperanza through the surrounding nature and landscapes. On this tour, you will learn about the importance of nature and ecosystem services in the cultural, economic, and social development of this former sugar mill. We will see how the landscape has changed, along with the stories told in these lands, from the times of our indigenous ancestors to the harsh reality of enslaved people in Puerto Rico during the 19th century.

Accessibility for people with disabilities is limited. It is important that visitors be able to walk unaided, outdoors, and on uneven terrain for an extended period.

NOTE: This Encounter with Nature is only offered in Spanish.
